Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP’s):

A Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) is an immigration program offered by provinces and territories in Canada. It allows them to nominate individuals who meet specific criteria and wish to settle in a particular province. Each province in Canada, except for Quebec, has its own PNP with its own eligibility requirements and selection criteria.

To apply for a provincial nomination, your application must be in the Express Entry pool. Most provinces select profiles through Express Entry. However, there are a few provinces where you must express your interest in a specific province separately by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) as per the provincial requirements. If the province determines that the candidate meets their specific criteria and has a genuine intention to live and work in the province, they may nominate the individual to the federal government for permanent residence.Once nominated, the applicant receives an additional 600 points, which significantly increases their CRS ranking to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) under the Express Entry program for permanent residency!

The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP’s) is one of the most popular programs under Express Entry and the most historic case we have dealt with in our career was a CRS score of 268, and the client successfully obtained the nomination for Saskatchewan. We have encountered many such cases in our immigration journey! However, there is no guarantee about provincial nominations because it depends on the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Each province’s PNP’s has its own specific documentation requirements and eligibility criteria that go into more depth and detail. The information provided below is intended to give you a general idea of what PNPs are and how they function:

• PEI – It has a different EOI system. Applicants must have an IRCC Express Entry Profile and should also submit the profile in Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system. Priority will be given to applicants that are living and working in PEI.
• Saskatchewan– You must have relevant education and work experience to be eligible for this province. They also have a demand list of occupations and you must have experience from their demand list. To be eligible for SINP, you must get a score of 60 out of 100 and your entire experience must come under the same NOC only then you will only be able to earn points.
• Ontario – If your profile is already in the “Express Entry Pool,” “Ontario” will select your profile directly from the “Express Entry Pool.” If you meet their “Draw” criteria, you’ll receive a “Notification of Interest” in your “Express Entry Account.”
• Alberta – To apply for Alberta, your profile must be in the “Express Entry Pool,” and “Alberta” will select your profile directly from the “Express Entry Pool” based on their internal criteria. If you fulfil their “Draw” criteria, you will receive a “Notification of Interest” in your Express Entry Profile.
• Manitoba – Apart from other criteria((age, language, work experience, education, Occupation in demand, etc..), you must have “Blood Relatives/Close Relatives/Close Friends or previous education or work experience in Manitoba” to be eligible for this province

• British Columbia – There is a requirement of “Job Offer from British Columbia” apart from other criteria (age, language, work experience and education).
• Yukon– There is a requirement of “Job Offer from Yukon” apart from other criteria(age, language, work experience and education).
• Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program – To be eligible for this program, you must have a valid “Job Offer” from one of the provinces listed below: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador.
• New Brunswick – To apply for this program, you must currently live and work in New Brunswick and provide a letter of employment from your employer. Apart from other factors (age, language, work experience and education).
• Nova Scotia– If your profile is already in the “Express Entry Pool,” “Nova Scotia” will choose your profile from there based on their draw criteria!
